Among the extensive choice of backup utilities available in the market, AOMEI Backupper Standard is an excellent free option to consider. It combines a straightforward interface with a flexible choice of backup, clone, and restore features – together with other utilities – to help you make exact copies of your most important files, folders, partitions, and even entire disks.

Organized in a neat tabbed interface, this backup tool offers you various backup types and a backup management tool to organize and update them. Thus, you can back up your entire Windows system, a full disk, a partition, or a selection of files and/or folders. Old backups can be easily updated by making use of the incremental and differential backup options, or you can substitute them for new entire backups loading the same settings used for previous versions.
Backups can be scheduled to be performed automatically every day, week, month, or at a specific date of your preference. Backup data can also be compressed to various levels and even split into blocks of a size your storage devices can manage. In order to prevent your data from being manipulated or copied without your permission, you can also tell the program to encrypt and password-protect your most sensitive backup files. The Restore option is even more straightforward. All you are asked to do is select an image file among all your backups and the folder where you want your data to be restored.

For byte-by-byte migrations of your data – be it a partition or an entire disk – you’re advised to use the Clone menu instead. (Note that the System Clone option is only available for users who have upgraded to the Pro edition.) Data won’t be compressed and the entire structure of your files and folders will be meticulously replicated in the destination disk.

As if not all these free backup-related features were enough, the program comes with a small yet interesting toolbox with some extra functions that I’m sure you’ll appreciate. Here you will find tools to check and explore your image files, to create useful bootable media, AOMEI Image Deploy, or an export/import configuration tool, among others. All of them are free for you to use, except for the Merge Images option, which will require you to upgrade to the Pro version of the program.
